Former Wimbledon champion Jana Novotna dies aged 49
Former Wimbledon champion Jana Novotna has died aged 49.
Jana Novotna was a Czech professional tennis player, that turned pro in 1987.
She was a serious threat on the tennis court until 1999, when she retired from the world of professional tennis.
Novotna's personal best came in 1997, when she was ranked No. 2 on the ATP women's list.
She was a proud owner of a women's singles Wimbledon title in 1998, and she also had 12 Grand Slam women's doubles titles.
Novotna was mainly known as a great doubles player, having two silver medals from Olympic games - 1988 Seoul Olympic Games and 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
Novotna also had bronze medal from women's singles 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, and many other prizes.
She has died of cancer at the age of 49, on November 19, 2017.
